STATE WINS 52-10
OVERWHELMS CENTRAL UNIVERSITY BASKET BALL TEAM, WHICH PLAYS A VERY POOR CONTEST
In a one-sided game, the State University basket ball team defeated the Central University team by the overwhelming score of 52 to 10 on the State University floor Thursday night before a large attendance.
The Danville team seems sadly in need of material for a basket ball team. Ramsey and Wingo tried hard and made a game effort, but with the poor assistance they received from the other men on the five, it was almost useless, for it takes a good team with all five players n the game to handle the Blue and White boys, who boast this year of having the strongest basket ball team in years.
At the end of the first half the score was 21 to 4 and when the last half was begun State had substituted its entire second team and then Central could score but four field goals and two fouls during both halves.
State's next game is with the University of Tennessee here next Wednesday. The State girls will play the Somerset High School girls on the State floor Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock.

CENTRAL MASSACRED
VARSITY RUNS UP THE SCORE TO 52 POINTS WHILE CENTRAL MAKES 10
SECOND TEAM PLAYS WELL
One time, but that time is past now, State had a "yell" which went something like this: "Well, well, well, is this Central, ------," and never could that have been more appropriately said than on last Thursday night. Central came, proud, but notwithstanding, with some indescribable feelings of boding evil, as evidenced in her playing, and when State finally got through running up her score to 52 points, C.U. realized just exactly how well grounded her misgivings were. Every one of State's players played a good game, while Central's players seemed to be nervous and lacked the confidence which helps a team throw goals.
Ramsey and Wingo played the best game for the visitors, but they were unassisted and their efforts were in vain. On the other hand State's whole team played together as a unit, and five good individual players, showing such team work as our fellows showed, are bound to stir up more or less consternation in the ranks of the enemy.
At the end of the first half the score was 21 to 4. At the beginning of the second half the entire second team was put in for State, but even then Central was not able to score but six points, while State's score continued its wild flight upward, ending finally in the overwhelming score of 52 to 10.
Coach Beal Banks of Central and Assistant Director of Athletics R.S. Webb, of State, alternated as referee and umpire.

Badly Beaten
State University basket ball team defeated Central in Lexington last night by the score of fifty-one to ten. The local boys were outweighed and outplayed and were unable to hold their experienced opponents. Most of State's men have had several years training in the sport, while the Central team is made up almost entirely of green material that will improve in every game played.
The Blue and White team is almost certain to land the State championship this year. One more game of a series of three to be played between the two teams yet remains to be played. The Central team lined up for the most part in the following way, although many substitutes were made on each side: Coleman, center; Bruce and Blakey, forwards; Newman and Ramsey, guards. Coach Sweetland sent the following team on the floor: Harrison (Capt.) center; Hart and Barnett, forwards, Gaiser and Preston, guards.

CADETS "MASSACRE" THE CENTRAL "INNOCENTS"
Roll Up Basketball Score of 52 to C.U.s Ten
SECOND TEAM IS USED
Wingo and Ramsey Form Bulwark of Visitors' Strength
It was really nothing short of a "Massacre of the Innocents' that occurred on the State University armory floor last night when the State basket ball team defeated her old rivals, Central University, by the overwhelming score of 52 to 10. The word "massacre" is used because it was nothing short of a slaughter, and the word "innocents" is applicable because, deplorable to be said, both for Central university and Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletics, this year's team at the Danville University is composed of men who are sadly innocent and devoid of basket ball knowledge.
It seemed a shame that such great athletes as the famous Fullback Ramsey and the well known Wingo, of the Central football team, should in an effort to hold up the honor of their university in other branches of athletics, be forced through lack of available basket ball men, to compose the backbone of the Cardinal and Blue five, only to be overwhelmed so completely by the Blue and White as they were last night.
Of course State this year has the best basket ball team the university has boasted in years, if ever, and the men who compose the second as well as the first team, there being little difference in the amount of skill possessed by either section, are clearly entitled o much honor and credit, which they will surely realize by becoming the State champions, probably without having lost a game, since they are undefeated so far in the season.
Second Team Used
The score of the game tells the story, with one exception, that of adding that in the second half State's entire second team was used. The first half ended with the score at 21 to 4, and Central threw but four field goals and two fouls during both halves. Thus he story of the game is told, and the summary below tells who starred.
State's next game is with the University of Tennessee on the local floor Wednesday night, February 7. The State girls will play the Somerset High School five on the State floor tomorrow afternoon at 3:20 o'clock.
It was learned last night from officials of the North Side School that State and Transylvania University will play a series of three games before the close of the season, the Transylvania officials having decided not to longer hold out in their late declaration that Transylvania would not play basket ball with State.
That being the case, all difficulties in the schedule between those two schools will be wiped out, and the dates of the three games may be announced soon. The first game probably will be played on February 16. However, if that dates is not agreed upon, Central will play State here instead.
The line-up and summaries on last night's game are as follows: ......(see boxscore)
Coach Beal Banks of Central and Assistant Director of Athletics R.S. Webb of State, alternated as referee and umpire.
