WILDCATS LOSE TO CINCINNATI
University of Kentucky Team Weakens After Holding Bearcats to 12-12 Tie at Half
FINAL SCORE IS 51 TO 22
CINCINNATI, Dec. 2 (AP) - After holding the University of Cincinnati to a 12-12 score at the end of the first half here tonight, the University of Kentucky team went down to defeat, 51 to 23, before their heavier opponents.
Kentucky fought bravely against the Bearcats throughout, but, like every other team thus far this season, failed to turn back the locals.
The moment the referee tossed the ball into the air in the second half, the fireworks began. Mickey Dine turned loose from mid-floor and on the next tip-off repeated his performance. Then, with Dine and Bolton drawing down scoring honors, the Red and Black hit their pace and it was only a matter of time.
To Frank Phipps was entrusted the task of trying to stop big Red Bolton. And to that youth's credit, it might be said that he did a very good job in the first half, only to weaken after the intermission.
Bolton played his usual game, which means accounting for at least a score of points. Between Dine and Bolton, there were something like 36 points scored.
Captain Paul Jenkins, defending his laurels as all-southern player last year, led the Wildcat attack with ten points. Knadler and Ropke turned in creditable games.
