Obituary - Frank P. Phipps Sr., State Journal (Frankfort) (September 17, 1979)

Phipps died at 6:20 a.m. Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington following a brief illness.
A native of Grayson County, he was the son of the late Mayme Prater and Edgar H. Phipps. He was a past president of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association, Frankfort, and a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. While a student at UK he earned letters in football and basketball. He was selected K-Man of the Year in 1967.
Phipps was also a former member of the Rotary Club, the Elks Clubs, the Hill Top Sportsman Club in Paris, Ky., the Frankfort Sportsman Club, and Ducks Unlimited. He devoted most of his life to the preservation and protection of wildlife and waterfowl in Kentucky. He was a a retired Director of Law Enforcement with the state fish and wildlife service and was a semiretired employee of the state public information department. He was a member of the Church of the Ascension.
Survivors include his wife, Helen David Phipps, Frankfort; two sons, Navy Lt. Frank P. Phipps, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Jack Thomas Phipps, Frankfort; a daughter, Mrs. Sally Zwicker, Lexington; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

FRANK PRATER PHIPPS, Ashland Daily Independent (September 17, 1979)
Frank Prater Phipps Sr., 74, Frankfort, died at 6:20 a.m. Sunday in Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington.
Mr. Phipps was born April 15, 1905 at Grayson, a son of the late Edgar H. and Maymie Prater Phipps. He was a retired director for law enforcement with the Department of Fish and Wildlife for 30 years, was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where he lettered in football and basketball. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Assumption in Frankfort.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helen Davis Phipps; two sons, Navy Lt. Frank Prater Phipps Jr. of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Jack Thomas Phipps of Frankfort; a daughter, Mrs. Sally Cwicker of Lexington; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Episcopal Church of the Assumption. Burial will be in the Frankfort Cemetery.
The body is at the Harrod Brothers Funeral Home in Frankfort, where friends may call.
