MARIETTA SWAMPED
BOOSTED OHIO TEAM MAKES MISERABLE SHOWING AND IS DEFEATED BY STATE BY SCORE OF 42 TO 16
Another Ohio team was forced to bow to the prowess of the State University basketball team Thursday night in the Armory when the five from Marietta College were completely swamped by the score of 42 to 16. The State team played an excellent game and the passing and goal shooting was the best of the season. The visitors played listless and demoralized ball all the way through, and whatever knowledge they had concerning the net game apparently vanished before the fast and sustained attack of the Wildcats. The Ohioans were somewhat crippled by the absence of one or two of their best players. Preston at center played the best game this season and he scored about half of the points for State.
Game Writeup - Lexington Herald
MARIETTA COLLEGE DEFEATED BY STATE
42 Points Made by Lucas to 16 Made for the Visitors from Ohio
Kentucky State University basketball team won over the quintet from Marietta College, of Ohio, in the armory of State University last night by the overwhelming score of 42 to 16. In the first half of the Marietta boys failed to get a goal, making only two points, these being fouls thrown by Parr, their tall center, who probably played their best game.
State's passing was good and their basket shooting the best seen on the local floor this season. At the end of the first half the score stood 19 to 2 in favor of the Kentucky boys. In the final period Coach Tigert gave his "Scrubs" a chance and they too proved to be some basket shooters, making 24 points while their opponents made 14. Preston, State's center played the best game, throwing 10 goals and 2 fouls, while Tuthill (sic) played his same consistent game.
