Indiana university's Crimsons staged a wild second half rally to topple the University of Kentucky cagers, 58-52, here tonight with Hamilton and Williams turning on the heat for the Hoosiers in the winning drive.

Hamilton contributed five baskets and a brace of free throws to the winning attack. He had chalked up six points before the intermission giving him a total of 18 points. Williams tallied three field goals and as many gift shots during the second half to bring his total to 15 points.

Ticco, Davis, Brewer and Landers divided scoring honors for the Kentuckians.

Kentucky opened the scoring when Rollins counted on a lay-up shot, then briefly surrendered the advantage on a basket by the Crimson's Rolling. Ticco shot the Kentuckians ahead with a pair of buckets to start the losers on a scoring spree which kept them ahead until midway in the second half.

Kentucky dominated the play in the first half, drawing away each time the Crimsons threatened and holding a 24-20 advantage at the intermission.

Rollins, Brewer and Davis collaborated to give Kentucky a 10-point margin early in the second quarter.

Williams and Hamilton, with the aid of a pair of long swishers by Swanson, started whittling away, forged into a one-point lead and then saw the advantage cut as Rollins tied things up for Kentucky with a gift shot, 39-39, midway in the second half.

With Brewer and Akers missing from the Kentucky line-up, the Hoosiers hit the basket in a wild flurry of scoring as the game neared its end, then stalled the last three minutes to protect the winning 58-52 score.

Unconquered in three starts, Indiana's basketball team will resume its non-Big Ten campaign next Wednesday night against the rangy, high-scoring University of Kentucky Wildcats at Louisville, Ky.

The Indiana-Kentucky contest, first between the Cats and Hoosiers in three years, will be played in the armory, where more than 6,500 spectators will watch the bucket battle. Indiana's national collegiate champions of 1940 defeated Kentucky, 48-45, in the Sugar Bowl game at New Orleans two years ago.

The Sugar Bowl contest was one of two in which the Wildcats came close to getting their first victory over the Hoosiers. The initial hardwood clash between the two schools in 1925 ended in a 20-18 victory for the Hoosiers, who won 34-23, in 1926; 38-19, in 1927 and 48-29, in 1928.

Coach Branch McCracken resumed Indiana practices Friday after a three-day layoff during which the Crimson netmen took final examinations. With a balanced scoring divided among veterans Capt. Irvin Swanson, of LaPorte; Ed Denton, of Jeffersonville: Ralph Hamilton of Fort Wayne, and Sophomore Ward Williams of Colfax, the Hoosiers have averaged 59.6 points to opponents' 33 in winning from DePauw, Wabash and Ft. Knox.

But the 178 points Indiana has scored in three games don't mean a thing to Coach McCracken, who says his team will get its first genuine test from Kentucky. "We still have practically no idea at all what kind of a basketball team we are going to have," the I.U. coach declared today. "We haven't had a real test yet, and the Wildcats may give us more than a test."
