VANDERBILT SETS WILDCATS DOWN WITH 36 TO 26 SCORE

University of Kentucky Shows Better Team Work, But Fails to Prove Match for Fast Floor Collection From Nashville College; Center Met Next

Vanderbilt University kept her winning record clear in her basketball game with the University of Kentucky last night on the Wildcats' floor, the final score being 36-26.

Vanderbilt has played only a few games this season but has won all of them, the last game being played against the Calument team at Louisville. The team goes to Centre College in Danville, tonight and speculation is running high as to the outcome between these two crack teams. Vanderbilt played one of the best games last night that has been seen on a local floor in many a day and even then the team didn't seem to be working to the limit of its ability. The playing was marked by clever dribbling, shifting the ball from hand to hand by the fleet-footed floor stars as they went down the floor, by a trick of throwing the ball in when out of bounds and swift and careful passing. The ball didn't more than hit a player's hand until it was gone.

The University of Kentucky Wildcats showed the result of their recent playing in better passing, but they are still unable to throw goals, although they had more than one opportunity against Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt's goals were nearly all thrown at close range, while State tried long shots, making several of them good in brilliant flashes. The Wildcats followed their usual form of waiting until the last five minutes of the game to get hot and really show the stuff in them.

Individual stars in the game last night are hard to pick, for both teams played excellent team work, especially Vanderbilt. But for Vanderbilt, Zerfoss, Sherman and Graves did the most conspicuous work, while Thomas Everett and Dishman did the most goal shooting for State, Burnham playing a fighting game at guard.

ZERFOSS VS. ZERFOSS IN FRIDAY'S SCRAP

A fight from whistle to whistle is the promise of the Wildcat team from the Vanderbilt game Friday night.

It is charitable not to mention the Wildcat successes thus far in their schedule, but there are many indications that they will do the old comeback stunt when Vanderbilt gets within reach of their claws. Dope on the visitors is scarce with one exception. It is well known that a former Wildcat, and a good one, is playing forward on the Commodore team. Tom Zerfoss, the "best of the three" as some of his admirers call him, has played basketball and football on Wildcat teams. He has been five months in the firing of the Western front and has returned with his floor ability untouched. "Little Brother" George, will be on the floor on the Wildcat team and Coach Gill relies upon George's knowledge of the family traits to help in making Tom behave. Mr. Zerfoss, the father of the boys will attend the game and fans are wondering for whom he will root.
