STATE COLLEGE
DEFEATED BY MIAMI BASKET BALL TEAM
By a score of 15 to 10 the Miami University basket ball team defeated Kentucky State College in what was declared to be one of the fastest and cleanest games ever played in this city. The game was held at State's gymnasium Friday night. It was an enjoyable affair and a large crowd was in attendance. Bad goal pitching on the part of the home team is assigned as the cause of State's defeat, while credit is given for a superior display of line work.
On the other hand the visitors showed the effects of a careful and splendid training. Their teams worked well together and resembled parts of one machine going in unison and harmony. The home team complimented the visitors very highly for their creditable playing.
Because of unforeseen contingencies there will be no basket ball game between Kentucky University and the Miami University teams. The visitors could not find it convenient to remain a day longer than their schedule, hence the game was called off by consent.
Preview - Lexington Leader
The local season of basket ball will open Friday night, when the Blue and White team from State College will line up against the splendid team from Miami University at Oxford, Ohio. The game will be played in the State college gymnasium which is very spacious, thereby affording every comfort should the weather be inclement.
The plucky cadets will find the Miami lads to be no easy foe, as they recently played Cincinnati University a tie game. The University team in turn defeated Yale by a score of 27 to 24.
The cadet band, which has furnished so much music to the delight of the crowds at the different contests, will also furnish music for this occasion.
Mr. W.B. Wendt, the manager of the Blue and White, deserves much credit for scheduling so good a game for the benefit of the lovers of athletic sports. He has had the college lads practicing daily since the close of the foot ball season. The price of admission will be 25 cents.
