Obituary - R.C. Barbee Passes at Good Samaritan, Lexington Herald (March 13, 1950)
A native of Fayette county, he was a son of the late Richard C. and Emma Travis Barbee. He was educated in Lexington public schols and was graduated in 1910 from the University of Kentucky College of Engineering.
Mr. Barbee served in World War I as a captain in the field artillery. He was a member of Central Christian church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Rodes Barbee; a daughter, Miss Betty Rodes Barbee, Jessamine county; a son, Richard C. Barbee Jr., Versailles; a sister, Mrs. Lena B. Overfield, nashville, and a brother, Dr. George Barbee.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the W.R. Milward mortuary chapel, the Rev. Thomas M. Johnston officiating. Interment will bein the Lexington cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Falconer Powell, R.M. Powell, J. Waller Rodes Jr., Shelby Shanklin Jr., William Elliott, Foster Young and Polk Threlkeld. Honorary bearers will be W.P.B. Hamilton and William Rodes.
