Odds and Ends from the Miami Game:
Although Mashburn scored 26 points, Pitino said after the game that this was Jamal's best defensive job since he came to Kentucky. He held Miami's second leading scorer, Matt Kramer, to only 8 points. Roderick Rhodes held their leading scorer, Craig Michaels, to just 6. UK had only 8 turnovers in the game, to Miami's 13.
Pitino said he was more proud of this victory than the wins over both Georgia Tech and Louisville, because of the discipline shown and the defensive efforts. Miami shot just 37.5%. Travis Ford had no turnovers and 7 assists, which was 1 more than the entire Miami team.
UK's victory against Miami was their 10th straight at Rupp against non-conference foes. UK leads this series 19-4.
