RIEFKIN LEADS CAGERS
GEORGETOWN, Ky., Jan. 13 - The Wildcats of the University of Kentucky won their first basketball game of the season from the Georgetown Tigers on the latter's floor. The score was 24 to 13.
The Tigers played a smooth game, and in the first half held the visitors to a 9 to 5 tally. The Wildcats were somewhat wild in the first period, but in the second half they steadied down and piled up a good lead on the Black and Yellow.
Riefkin of the winners, was individual star, caging 14 of Kentucky's points. Forwood played the best game for Georgetown.
The Tigers did not seem to find the basket, and missed many close shots. Their teamwork, however, kept them in the running against Kentucky.

KENTUCKY WINS OVER LOCAL FIVE
Tigers Unable to Hold Wildcats in Second Half of Battle: First Period Ends in Locals Favor
Kentucky's net artists won a hard fought battle from the local Tiger team Saturday night on the local floor by the count of 24 to 13. The first half of the tilt ended 9 to 5 in favor of the Georgetown boys, only one field goal being caged by the Wildcats in the initial period.
Kentucky took a one point lead in the first few minutes of play when Riefkin made a foul shot after a rule violation by Pollock, local guard. Captain Forwood, for Georgetown made the score 2 to 1 on the next minute of play when he hit a long one from the center of the floor. He followed with two more in the next five minutes and the score was 7 to 1 after Pollock caged a free throw.
Georgetown made another point on a foul in the first half of the engagement and Kentucky hit a field goal and two additional fouls making the final count for the first period 9 to 5. The first part of the fray the Wildcats were easy meat for the hungry Tigers and it looked as if the game would be decided by a one-sided score in favor of the locals.
The Wildcats started out with a rush in the second half of the contest that could not be stopped and the Tigers could not keep up their pace of the initial part of the battle, never caging a field goal during the entire second half. The University lads began hitting them from every part of the court and led by Riefkin, stellar guard, their onslaught of field goals and fouls could not be checked by the fighting Tigers. The team work of the Georgetown boys went up in the smoke of battle and they were never able to get going together, while the Kentucky five improved as the game kept on making itself part of Georgetown's athletic history.
