GEORGE C. BUCHHEIT
George C. Buchheit, 74, of 2525 S. Walnut St. Died at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Hospital.
Surviving are his wife, Natalie B.; one son Charles E. of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Sue C. Root of Lee, Mass.; one brother, Russell of Springfield and four grandchildren.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Association of Highway Retired Engineers, Tyrian Lodge No. 333, Springfield Consistory and a veteran of World War I.
Prior to his retirement seven years ago, Mr. Buchheit was employed by the state of Illinois in the Division of Highways. Prior to moving to Springfield, Mr. Buchheit was a athletic coach at the University of Kentucky, Duke University and the Bloomsburg State College.
