Wildcats Lose to Miami five
Playing of Moore for Ohio Team Feature Final Contest in University Gymnasium
FLOOR WORK IS FAST
In a game featured by long shots and the brilliant playing of Moore, center for Miami, the University of Kentucky basketball five lost to the visiting Miami team last night in the University of Kentucky gymnasium by a score of 38 to 14.
Shortly after the game started, Miami got a lead of several points and held it throughout the first half, that period ending with the score, 20 to 1 in favor of the visitors.
In the second half the University of Kentucky five failed to score a single point, while Miami men threw eight field goals and two fouls.
The floor work and goal shooting of Moore, at center for Miami, was easily the feature of the contest. Up to Friday nights game with Cincinnati, Moore had been a first substitute. He was started with the regulars in the game last night, at center, and his work seemed the inspiration of the visiting five. During the first half he made the first four points of the game, giving Miami her lead, and following also in the first half with two more field goals. In the final period he threw five field goals, most of them long shots.
Ten fouls were called during the contest by Referee Hansen, of Transylvania College. Lavin threw two out of his five, while Brate also got two out of five possible goals.
The game, although exceptionally fast and hard fought, was not particularly rough. Several of the men received hard falls but outside of a few minor cuts and one bad fall none of the players were hurt.
Everett, center, and Lavin and Dishman, forwards, made all of the Wildcats points.

MIAMI DEFEATS WILDCATS 37-14
The Miami basket ball team from Oxford, O., defeated the Wildcats five in a rough game on the local floor Saturday night by the score of 37 to 14.
The Miami squad made ten points during the first two or three minutes of play. This gave the visitors a good lead and State was unable to catch up.
The first half ended with Miami in the lead by six points, the score being 20-14.
Altho this was the second contest in which the center for the Ohio five has played, he showed his remarkable skill in tossing field goals by making seven. Four of which were made in the first half.
The visiting team's luck in making long throws was the feature of the game, making two from behind the center of the floor.
The work of Lavin, State's forward, was exceedingly snappy. He broke up many of the plays made by the opponents and succeeded in passing the ball toward the Wildcats' goal, only to be taken back again by some wild throwing done by the locals.
The ball was continually in the hands of the Miami players, and it was passed so rapidly that the defensive squad was unable to recover the ball and make any headway down the floor.
