WILDCATS WIN INITIAL BASKET BALL CONTEST
State University Quintet Defeats Maryville Team by Score of 37 to 17
In the opening game of the basketball season in the armory last night the Kentucky Wildcats romped over the Maryville, Tenn., team to the tune of 37 to 17. Coach Brumage's quintet showed superior training in the way in which they handled the ball. Often the whole team would be engaged in passing the ball back and forth across the floor, furnishing almost a mid-season exhibition.
The ball was continually in motion and was during most of the time in Maryville's territory. Speed in attempting field goals was responsible for the fact that the Blue and White quintet did not make more points.
Server, at center, showed up last night as one of the best men that has played that position for the Wildcats. He made twelve out of thirty-seven points scored by his team and was always in action. Gumbert, from the second string, showed up well, as did Kane. Also Simpson at guard showed promise of developing into a strong man. All the Kentucky regulars showed up in their old form, playing together throughout like veterans.
