STATE WINS OVER CINCINNATI 20-18
at Auditorium -- Second Won by High School Over Blue and White Freshies
At the Woodland Auditorium last evening one of the most exciting basketball contests of the season, the State University 'varsity' defeated the Cincinnati University quintette 20 to 18.
Later the Lexington High School won 20 to 15 in their match with the State Freshies.
The Rhinelanders scored fourteen points on goals from the field and four from the foul line. In the first half Cincinnati scored nine points and State ten. Twenty to eighteen in favor of State in Cincinnati-State contests is growing coincidental, as the Kentuckians defeated the "Queen City" basketball men by that same score last season.
Morgan is to be given the credit for State's victory, as he rescued his team by throwing three long spectacular goals from the field. For Cincinnati "Herb" Goosman and Bryant played great ball, being in the game all the time.
The first half belonged to State, but in the second Cincy took the lead and it was in the middle of this when she had began to arrange her curls for the reception of the laurel wreath that Morgan made his long throws that won the game. Tom Zerfoss had to be sent in the second half to stem the tide. Zerfoss replaced Scott at forward and Scott took Gumbert's place at guard.
