STATE PLAYERS LEARN LESSON
Christ Church Basket Ball Team Shows University Boys Just How the Game Should be Played and Roll Up 30 to 19 Score
In a fast and furiously played game that was a six-cylinder for power and speed the Christ Church team from Cincinnati defeated the State University five 30 to 19 Saturday night on the Armory floor. The mathematical conclusion of the fray, however, conveys no idea of the intensity of the argument. The visitors staged the best exhibition of the game seen on the local floor this season and the team work was superb. Although fighting against a heavy lead from the beginning of the game and facing a team that had put to rout all opponents this season except the Worlds Champions, the local legion put up a stubborn, never-say-die opposition. The kind of pep and ginger that has won games for State in the past was present and the local basketters played a good game but the visitors were too much for them to handle.
The game was played and abounded in dazzling field performances, and the brilliant passing of the ball and good team work of the visitors kept the spectators on the uneasy seat all the time.
One of the largest crowds of the season witnessed the fray and the State rooters kept up a continual howl for the Wildcats to "eat em up" but little good did it do.
The Cincinnatians got away with a good lead and maintained it for the rest of the contest. After battling for 20 minutes the two teams drew up at the half-way mark with the score 16 to 4 in favor of the visitors. State secured only one field goal in the first half and that was thrown by Captain Barnett. Preston threw a foul and one point was awarded, making a total of four points in the first period.
The locals came back in the second half in a gallant rush and when the final whistle blew they had annexed several points running the total up to 19, while in the same time the other side of the score stood 30 for the Cincinnatians.
All the men on the Cincinnati team played a good game but the stellar work was done by Volz and Captain Koebel.

UNIVERSITY GIRLS WIN BUT BOYS ARE BEATEN
Christ Church Five is Victorious But the Louisville Team is Vanquished
The Christ Church basketball team, of Cincinnati, O., defeated the Sate University quintet on their own floor last night, by the score of 30 to 19. It was the hardest fought game staged on the local floor this season, and there was no end to the excitement that prevailed throughout the entire contest. This was the third game that State has lost in two years, and the defeat was somewhat surprising as the locals were sure of victory.
State started off bad in the initial round, their passing not being up to usual form, and the basket shooting was the worst of the season. The absence of Scott, their start guard, who was injured in a previous game, was a handicap of which they seemed unable to overcome.
The churchmen put up the prettiest game seen here this season, their passing was great, while they rarely missed an opportunity to toss a basket.
At the end of the first half the score stood 16 to 4 in favor of the visitors. After the ten minutes of rest State came back strong and played a hard, consistent game, but were unable to overcome the lead the churchmen got in the first period.
