DEFEATS GEORGETOWN COLLEGE BASKET BALL TEAM IN OPENING GAME OF THE SEASON
The Blue and White won triumphantly over the Orange and Gold at the State University gymnasium Friday night; when the basket ball team from State University defeat the team from Georgetown College by a score of 38 to 9 in the opening game of the season. The Cadets won the game in a walk and at no time was the result in doubt.
Georgetown only made one goal from the field. The other points scored were made on six foul goals and an awarded point. The game was characterized by rough playing, occasioned in large measure to the non-enforcement of the new rule prohibiting the player from taking an advance step immediately before throwing for foul. State's whole team played a good consistent game, while Ross at center and Royalty at forward played the best game for the visitors. A large crowd from Georgetown came to Lexington to root for their team.

In the opening game of the Kentucky Intercollegiate basket ball season, played in the State University gymnasium last night, State University defeated the Georgetown College team by the one-sided score of 38 to 9. At no stage of the game was the contest close, and it was only a question of how big State wanted to make the score.
Georgetown only made one goal from the field, their other seven points being made on one awarded point and six foul goals. The game was remarkably rough throughout and the non-enforcement of the new rule against the step before throwing a goal was noticeable. Both teams had a number of fouls called. Both captains changed their line-up several times in order to try out all the promising material. Ross at center and Royalty at forward probably played the best game for the visitors, while for State the whole team played great ball, the passing and teamwork being very good. If any stars were to be distinguished, Kimbrough, Hart and Harrison probably shone more brightly than their mates. Kimbrough most certainly. He is possibly the best forward in the State and his goal throwing is remarkable. Georgetown's poor showing may be explained from the fact that they have only practiced together for two days. Quite a number of Georgetown people came over to root for their team.
