James Ceek, Former County Judge, Is Dead
James Cheek, 75, mayor of Silver Lake, a small community northwest of Oklahoma City, died in his home late Monday night. He was an Oklahoma county judge in 1924-25.
Cheek was born Oct. 19, 1885 in Tennessee and came to Oklahoma City in 1916.
In October, 1959, he was elected mayor of Silver Lake, however, the city is not an actual incorporated area. He was elected for a one-year term by Silver Lake residents. The group meets once a year for a banquet and to elect a mayor.
He was former president of the Civitan Club, a member of the Men's Dinner Club and former trustee of the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Huldah, of the home; three sons, Alex, 2501 NW Grand Blvd.; John D., 1703 Kingsbury Lane; William C, 6400 Hillcrest; and seven grandchildren.

FULTON, Ky., Feb. 11 (Special) - Funeral services for James C. Cheek, a native of Fulton, were held Wednesday in Oklahoma City where he died unexpectedly last Monday.
He is survived by his widow, three sons and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Norman Terry, Futon, is a sister.
Cheek was the son of the late J.C. Cheek, who was superintendent of schools here for many years.
