CENTRAL UNIVERSITY WINS EXCITING GAME

State College Loses Third Game of Series by Score of 15 to 13

In a game remarkable for the absence of field goals State College went down in defeat at the hands of the Central University basket ball team in the cadet gymnasium last night, the visitors winning by a score of 15 to 13.

As a result of the game State College's chances for the State championship seem to have gone glimmering, but the battle from this time on will be hard fought. Had State won the game last night the issue would have been between them and the Georgetown college team for the championship of the Intercollegiate Association. As it now stands State has lost two of out of three games to Central university and won one and lost one to Georgetown. On the other hand Georgetown has beaten Central University three games.

Should State College defeat Georgetown in the deciding game in this city next week there will virtually be no intercollegiate championship team in Kentucky. Taken as a whole State's record is a good one, but Georgetown's is slightly better. Georgetown's only real superior in the State was the Y.M.C.A. team, while holds the amateur championship of Kentucky.

State College played bad ball in the first half of last night's game and did not seem to fully realize the playing strength of the visitors until the last five minutes of play when Captain Wilson called in Shanklin and Brewer. From this time on the game was fast and furious and the scoring was done in rapid succession by both sides. When Shanklin went in the score was 10 to 7 in favor of the Central five. He rapidly made six points for his side and the Cadets went ahead, leading by a score of 13 to 12.

At this point, with only two minutes playing time left, a peculiar play came up which caused much discussion both among the spectators and the players. Wilson, of the Cadets, called time. Within three second after he yelled to the referee the Central team made a field goal, scoring two points. This placed them ahead, as the ball seemed to be in the air before the whistle was blown.

Wilson claimed that the goal should not be allowed on the ground that he as captain had called for time a few seconds before the whistle was blown and the ball thrown. Central's referee, after much discussion, decided in favor of the Cadets.

Not daunted, however, the Red and Blue aggregation got busy, and after O'Neal had tied the score by throwing a foul Dosker won the game by throwing a pretty goal just before time was called for the end of the game.

After the game the Central team elected Morris captain of next year's team by a unanimous vote.

State College Defeated in Hot Basket Ball Contest by Score of 15 to 13. Last Game of Series

Kentucky State College met defeat in a warmly contested basket ball game with Central University Saturday night, the score resulting in favor of the latter at the time of 15 to 13. The unlucky number held State College fast, while the Danville team ran ahead two points. The game was spirited throughout, and was free from any rough playing. State College showed superior team work, while the Central men did the best individual playing. For the visitors O'Neal played the star game.

This was the last of the series between the two colleges, Central having won two out of the three games played.
