John Nucatola
NEW YORK (AP) - John Nucatola, a basketball Hall of Famer and one of the original referees when the National Basketball Association was formed in 1946, died Monday at age 92.
Nucatola, inducted into the Hall in 1978, started as a referee in the East Coast Athletic Conference, the Atlantic Coast Conference and Ivy League. He officiated more than 2,000 games during his collegiate, Olympic and professional career.
Nucatola was the NBA's supervisor of officials from 1970-77.
