Streak Ends!!
The Kentucky Wildcats ended a three game skid and defeated the University of North Carolina-Asheville 86-41
The Kentucky Wildcats jumped out to a 5-0 lead and never looked back as they jumped out to a 41-16 halftime lead and won going away 86-41. many reports circulated over the last few days that there may be an impending lineup change, but that change never came about.
Player of the game Desmond Allison finally had a breakout game and scored 15 points on . Allison was perfect from the field going 5-5 including 3-3 from behind the arc; plus hit all of his charity tosses. Jamaal Magloire tossed in 14, Marvin Stone had 12, Keith Bogans had 12 and Jules Camara had 11 as the Cats placed five players into double figures. Stone combined his 12 points with 10 rebounds to gain a double-double.
More importantly than the win was the way the youngsters played. The team displayed crisper passes on the offensive end and were more active defensively.
The Cats shot an improved 46% from the field. The improvement from the charity stripe continued as the team hit 19-23 free throws.
The Kentucky defense forced the UNC-Asheville into a whopping 29 turnovers, Coach Smith credited the improved defense on the press with playing more man and abandoning the matchup press, which players were having difficulty picking up.
After a sluggish start to the season offensively the Cats now have scored 75 and 86 points in their last two games, and indication that the offense is beginning to come together.
