Coach Buchheit's System Proves Too Hard Knot for Bearcats to Unravel

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Kentucky Wildcats defeated the Cincinnati Bearcats in their first basketball game on the local gym floor this evening by the score of 26 to 19. The score at the end of the first half was 12 to 10 in favor of the Blue Grass basket shooters.

Both teams were poor in their shooting and passing. The Wildcats were far superior to the local shooters and repeatedly broke up the five men defense of the local team with ease. They kept three men working the floor all the time, and succeeded in keeping the Bearcats' star basket shooter, Coons, from the basket and as a consequence the local players were forced to make all shots from long range with disastrous results.

King had a field day with the local players, shooting four baskets and eight fouls, while Fest who substituted for Atkins at center accounted for three baskets and Hayden for two baskets.

Coons was the star for Cincinnati, shooting two field goals and seven fouls. Linnemann was next in order for local team, shooting two baskets, while Geis and Van Pelt each accounted for one.

The university players sadly missed Seitz, their star, who is laid up following an operation for appendicitis. Gela, a new man at forward, put up a fine game, as did Schierloh at guard.
