Wildcats Walk Away From Wesleyan in First Game
In their first game of the basketball season, Kentucky's Wildcats defeated Wesleyan's floor runners 46 to 5 on Buell Armory floor last night. Failing to get a basket from the floor, the Winchester boys tossed five foul goals.
Kentucky started the game with three old men in the line-up. Dishman, Thomas and Marsh. Bastin, who was to have captained the Wildcats this year, did not return to school after the holidays.
Wesleyan never proved dangerous and with the Wildcat goal guarded closely at all times by Dishman and Burnham the forwards seemed lost. Kentucky marked five times in the first half but scored ??? in the last few minutes of play. Becoming better acquainted to each other in the last half, however, field goals were tossed with ease and rapidity.
For Kentucky, Marsh, at center, and Dishman, at guard, featured, the former getting five baskets. Parker, who was sent in as forward in the last half made four field goals and one foul. Strother and Garr did most of the playing for the visitors.
The University of Kentucky's basketball five is to be "right up there" fighting for championship honors this season was made manifest Monday night when the Wildcats defeated Kentucky Wesleyan in impressive fashion by the score of 46 to 5 at Buell Armory. The Wesleyan team never had a chance fro the beginning and their only scores were the result of five foul goals from free shots.
Altho having been out for practice for a short time the teamwork of the University five was impressive. Marsh at center was the offensive star for the Wildcats, while Dishman at guard put up a wonderful defensive game. Parker, substituting for Everett in the last half, also did splendid work.
