KENTUCKIANS ARE SWAMPED IN FAST GAME WITH VARSITY
Southerners Are No Match for St. John's Team in Two Swift Halves of Basket Ball - - - Large Crowd Witnesses Downfall of Blue-Grass Boys
Ohio Wesleyan 37. Kentucky State 19.
The blue grass thoroughbreds from Kentucky State proved themselves easy meat for the Wesleyan basket ball aggregation last Thursday evening in an exciting game, with the final score of 37 to 19. The first half was a neat exhibition of fast and snappy basket ball by both teams, the period ending with Wesleyan holding the narrow margin of 14 to 11 over the Southerners. In the second half, however, the boys in scarlet and jet went crazy, and piled up 23 points to their opponent's 8. For the visitors Marx was easily the star, his phenomenal ability in shooting long and difficult baskets being a feature of the game. Each Wesleyan quarter played a steady and consistent game, in sharp contrast to the display of last Saturday. Palmer and Patton were both right, each getting away from five baskets.

BASKET BALL - TEAM RETURNS FROM TRIP
Great Improvement Shown
. . . After traveling seven hours, they arrived at Delaware, Ohio, where they met Ohio Wesleyan Thursday night. The game was played under collegiate rules, which of course, proved a bad handicap to our boys who are unused to the "dribble." At the end of the first half the score stood 14-11, favor Wesleyan, the game being fast and clean, only one foul being called and that on State. But towards the later part of the second half Ohio Wesleyan seemed to out-class our five and the game ended 32-24. All the men played well the spectators remarking that not only was that the hardest game Wesleyan has had this year, but the closest guarding they have ever seen. Lineup: Harrison, center; Marx and Hart, forwards; Gaiser, and Preston, guards.
