TRANSYLVANIA WINS
DEFEATS STATE UNIVERSITY 23 TO 18 IN A WELL-PLAYED BASKET BALL GAME
The Transylvania University basket ball team defeated the State University Friday night on State's floor by the score of 23 to 18 in an interesting game. The contest was close from the start, first one and then the other team leading for a few moments by a narrow margin, and the outcome was in doubt until the last two minutes of play, when the Crimson team forged to the head and secured enough lead to clinch the game.
The two teams will likely meet in more games before the season is over, although no other games have yet been scheduled. A return game will be played on the Transylvania floor after the return of the State team from their Northern trip, which begins February 9.
State's next game will be played with Kentucky Wesleyan College at the armory next Friday night. Following this there will be one other game before the team leaves for the Northern trip, which will be played with Bethany College of Bethany, W. Va., at the armory.
Transylvania will meet the Georgetown College five at the Transylvania gymnasium next Monday night. This will be the first of the series of three games between these teams, two of which, the first and the third will be played here.
Transylvania scoring - Ten goals, 2 thrown fouls and one point awarded on a foul.

GAME FOUGHT HARD
Cadets Lead in First Half But Give Way to a Strong Rally
The Transylvania University basket ball team met the State University five on the armory floor last night and defeated the Blue and White men by the score of 23 to 18 in a well played and interesting game.
The game was close from the start, first one and then the other team leading for a few moments by a narrow margin, and the outcome was in doubt until the last two minutes of play, when the Crimson team forged to the head and secured enough lead to practically clinch the game.
State Heads in First
At the end of the first half State led in the scoring with ten points to the Crimson's eight. During the second half, however, Transylvania secured a slight lead early in the period which was soon overcome by State only to be lost a few minutes later.
The team work of Transylvania showed slight superiority over the Blue and White, but both teams handled themselves creditably, played fast and were about evenly matched in individual work. Gaiser played the best game for State and his playing was well worth mentioning. However, he weakened under the strain of hard playing during the last half and Preston was substituted in his place. Francis and G. Tinley played the best game for Transylvania.
Attendance is Good.
The attendance was good, including a large number of Transylvania students and the crowd showed their appreciation of the fast work of the teams by showing the regular football yelling spirit.
The two teams will likely meet in more games before the season is over, although no other games have yet been scheduled. A return game will be played on the Transylvania floor after the return of the State team from their Northern trip which begins February 9.
