Y.M.C.A. DEFEATS STATE COLLEGE FIRST TEAM AT BASKETBALL, BUT SECOND CLUB WINS FROM HIGH SCHOOL
The good games of basket ball were played on the Y.M.C.A. gymnasium floor Friday night, when the first team of the Young Men's Christian Association and the State College team met and the High School and second team from State College played.
The first game was between State and the Y.M.C.A. and resulted in a victory for the Association team by a score of 29 to 19. The cadets were outclassed, and the Association team put up a splendid game. At the end of the first half the score was 18 to 11 in favor of the Association team.
John Guyn and "Tommy" Sheets played the star game for the Y.M.C.A. while Wilson and Howard Guyn shared equal honors in the throwing of goals. Shanklin played the best game for State.
A number of fouls were called on both teams.
The second team of State College defeated the High School aggregation 25 to 18 after a hard fought contest.
The line-up for the two games were:
State College - Forwards: Riefkin and Lusk; center, Downing (Captain); guards, Brockman and Wilkes.
High School - Forwards: Frye and Kimbrough; center, Talbutt; guards, Redd (Captain) and Lisle.
The first teams lined up as follows:
Kentucky State College - Forwards: Post and Shanklin; center, Fox; guards, Wilson and Barbee
Y.M.C.A. - Forwards: Howard Guyn and Rayner; center, John Guyn; guards, sheets and White Guyn

Y.M.C.A. DEFEATS STATE COLLEGE TEAM
Fierce Contest at Basket Ball on the Gymnasium Floor:
By a score of 29 to 19 the basket ball team from the City Young Men's Christian Association defeated the Kentucky State College team in a fiercely fought game last night.
The game was played on the gymnasium floor of the Y.M.C.A. building and was witnessed by a large and enthusiastic crowd of rooters for both teams.
The Cadets were outclassed throughout the game and showed marked lack of training. The Y.M.C.A. team has been practicing longer and have, as a result, rounded into better form. The scores at the end of the first half stood 18 to 11 in favor of the Y.M.C.A. team.
John Guyn and Tommy Sheets shared about equal honors for first mention for the Y.M.C.A. Wilson and Howard Guyn, opponents, shared about equal honors in throwing goals from fouls.
Shanklin Best for Cadets
Shanklin probably put up the best game for the Cadets. Both teams committed many foul plays.
State Defeats High School
The game played between the High School and the second team from State College was exciting. The game resulted in a victory for State by a score of 25 to 16. The games played are the initial games of the season and were good games as the spectator is accustomed to see upon the opening of the season.

BASKET BALL GAME AT Y.M.C.A. TONIGHT
Contest Will Be on the Gymnasium Floor Building
Tonight at 8 o'clock the basket ball teams from Kentucky State College and the City Young Men's Christian Association will line up for a match game.
The contest will take place at 8 o'clock on the gymnasium floor of the Y.M.C.A. building. The game will be the initial contest of the local season, and a large number of other adherents of both teams will be present to cheer their favorites.
The contest will be close. In a fierce contest last season the Y.M.C.A.'s defeated the Cadets. The Cadets however, will make a hard effort to retrieve the lost honors tonight.
Y.M.C.A. Boys Practicing
The Y.M.C.A. boys have been practicing hard since the work was started December 20. The team has developed into good form.
At present the individuality of the forwards is the strong feature of the Y.M.C.A. boys. The team work is also good.
The game will be umpired by J.O. Van Meter. J.W. Leonard will be official timekeeper. The time of halves will be 20 minutes each.

The State College Cadets will line up as follows: Forwards - W.C. Fox, Shelby Shanklin or Shelby Post; center - Thomson Bryant; guards - Maury Wilson and Dick Barbee, captain.
