Obituary - Businessman Bruce L. Davis Dies; Was Former UK Basketball Player, Lexington Herald (August 28, 1979)
Davis, who was a resident of Lexington for 51 years before moving to Elkton Farm in Scott County in 1970, played basketball at UK under the late Adolph Rupp from 1933 to 1937.
Besides operated the hotel, which closed several years ago, he also was a coal operator and lease agent.
Davis was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Georgetown and was a former deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. He was also a member of Idle Hour Country Club.
A native of Jellico, Tenn., he was the son of the late William E. and Anna Bruce Huston Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Triplett Davis; two sons, Daniel Alexander Davis of Lexington and Bruce Llandys Davis Jr. of Georgetown; and a brother Dr. Howell J. Davis of Owensboro.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at W.R. Milward Mortuary - Broadway Visitation is from 2 t 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary.
