Corenswet, With Sugar Bowl's 39 Orginators, Dies
NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Sam Corenswet Sr., 67, one of the 39 organizers of the New Orleans Mid-Winter Sports Association, sponsor of the Sugar Bowl carnival, died early Sunday after a long illness.
He came here from Nashville, Tenn., in 1919 and was affiliated with City Stores. He formed his own business in 1953.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon. He is survived by his widow, one son and one brother.
