H. Clay Van Reen; Educator and Coach
A memorial service for H. Clay Van Reen, an educator, coach and sports official, will be at 10 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church of Lee's Summit, Mo. The body will be cremated.
Mr. Van Reen, 80, died Thursday at Lee's Summit Community Hospital. He had been under treatment for pneumonia.
Mr. Van Reen retired as an assistant superintendent in the St. Louis school system in 1967 after more than 40 years of service.
Mr. Van Reen had been a track coach at Roosevelt High School and principal of several elementary schools.
Mr. Van Reen had been a basketball and football official in the Big Eight conference, the Missouri Valley Conference and the Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
He had a bachelor's degree from Bradley University and a master's degree from Northern Colorado University.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Stonner of Lenexa, Kan., and Gail Acuff of Prairie Village, Kan.; two brothers, Fred and William, and three sisters, Kathryn Herring, Elizabeth Roberts and Rose Henage, all of Fulton, Mo.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
