CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA., Jan 23 -- Virginia University defeated the University of Kentucky here last night 39 to 23 in the most hotly contested game of the local season. The contest was marred by repeated fouls for rough work, two players on each team being banished.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va Jan 22. - Virginia University defeated the University of Kentucky here tonight 39 to 23 in the most hotly contested game of the local season. The Kentuckians were fast and aggressive throughout and made a splendid spurt in the final period, scoring ten points in five minutes following a sensational shot from the middle of the floor by Captain Tuttle. The contest was marred by repeated fouls for rough work, two players on each team being banished. Nichols again led in the scoring for Virginia tossing five goals in the first period. Stickley's floor work was of a high order. Both Strickland and Rixey performed well at center.
