DEFEATS UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE AND USES BOTH TEAMS - FRESHMEN DOWN ST. PAUL ATHLETIC CLUB

The State University defeated the University of Tennessee basketball team by the score of 27 to 15 Wednesday night, thus adding another victory to their long string of no defeats this season.

A double-header was played Wednesday night, the first being between the State Freshmen and the St. Paul's Athletic Club, which was won by the former 32 to 14.

At the end of the first half of the State-Tennessee game, the score was 9 to 5 in favor of State, and for the second period Director of Athletics Sweetland put the entire second team in the game, who ran the score up to 27 to 15 and played a better game than the 'Varsity team did during the first half. The 'Varsity five showed plainly that they were not in form and the fast Tennessee team lack but a little of coming out on top after the first period. In the early part of the second period they almost played the State men off their feet, but the State boys rallied before it was too late and won their game.

The Tennessee five will go to Georgetown College and will be back in Lexington Saturday to play Transylvania University.

The State University girls will meet the Lexington High School girls on the State floor Thursday night. The game will be called at 7 o'clock.
