State University Basket Ball Five Defeats the Tennessee Visitors by a Score of 20 to 5
The State University basket ball team defeated the team from the University of Tennessee in the Armory at State University Wednesday night by the score of 20 to 5. The game was slow and exceedingly rough though there was better playing in the latter part of the game than there was in the first. For State Post and Barbee played all around the Tennesseans, while Gaiser did good work at center over a taller man. Tennessee never closely approached a field goal during the entire game and their foul line goal throwing was very poor. Welker making five points out of twenty-four fouls committed by State, while State scored six times on fifteen fouls.
The blue and white team was much faster in the second half then the first, when the score ended 8 to 2, and the teamwork was greatly improved in the last twenty minutes. Captain Rodes did stellar work in the last part of the game and made more than enough points to win from Tennessee.

Kentucky Defeats Tennessee
Lexington, Ky., Feb. 16. (Special) - The basketball team of the University of Tennessee, which came here heralded as one of the best of the South, was a decided disappointment in the game with Kentucky State University tonight, the latter winning by a score of 26 to 5. The visitors were outplayed at every point, their goal throwing being conspicuously bad. Out of twenty-four fouls made by Kentucky, Welcher, for Tennessee, only scored five points, while Kentucky secured six points from Tennessee's fifteen fouls. Half a dozen times when Tennessee men had a free chance to throw field goals they failed to make a point. There was a good deal of roughness in the game, but in this respect the honors were about even.
Kentucky led from the start, the score in the first half standing 8 to 2. Tennessee came for a series of games with Kentucky colleges and expects to play Central, Georgetown, and Transylvania during the visit to Kentucky.

GAME IS A SLOW ONE
Goal Throwing of Yellow and White's Poor and Teamwork Bad
The State University of Kentucky basketball team trampled on Tennessee Wednesday night in the armory, the score being 26 to 5. The game was moderately fast, Kentucky improving all the time, and exceedingly tough. Both teams contributed to the roughness, but the local players had the edge on that as well as on the better work. Post and Barbee played all over the men in yellow and white. Gaiser did good work at center against a taller man. Tennessee could not throw goals in practice and never closely approached a field goal during the game. The throwing from the Foul line by Welcker was about the poorest ever seen in Lexington. He made only five points out of twenty-four fouls committed by State. Kentucky scored six times on fifteen fouls.
The fact that about a half dozen times when Tennessee men had free chances to throw field goals not a point was made, gives some clue to the character of the game they played.
The blue and white team was much faster in the second half than the first, when the scored ended 8 to 2, and the teamwork was greatly improved in the last twenty minutes. Captain Rodes did stellar work in the last part of the game and made more than enough points to win from Tennessee.
