STATE WINS
Takes Good Basket Ball Game From Central University of Danville
The State College basket ball team defeated the strong Central University team of Danville Thursday afternoon by the score of 31 to 20, after a hard fought contest. The game was played in State's gymnasium and was one of the best games played on a local floor this season.
The State boys started at Central in the first half, and by hard playing succeeded in running up a score of 18 to 13. Central fought hard but weakened in the second half, and State ran up the score to 31, while the best Central could do was to secure seven points in this half.
State won out by team work, and the individual playing of Downing and Wilson.
Central played a good game in the first half, but lost out in the last and failed to keep up their team work. Seelbach and Morris played the best game, and put up some good playing. The game was rough and a number of fouls were called.
By winning this game State College has a strong claim on the Inter-Collegiate championship for the State.

K.S.C. DEFEATS C.U. IN BASKET BALL GAME
By a score of 31 to 20 the Cadet basket ball team from Kentucky State College defeated the Cardinal and Blue five from Central University in a fierce contest at the State College gymnasium yesterday afternoon. By winning the contest the Cadets hope to possibly be able to capture the intercollegiate championship honors for the season of 1908.
The Blue and White team were the first to score, and remained in the lead throughout the entire progress of the game. The contest was closer during the first half than during the second period. At the end of the first half the score was 18 to 13 in favor of the Cadets. The Cadets started the second half with a spurt and kept the visitors on their tiptoes until the whistle blew at the close.
The game was interesting from the standpoint of the spectators as the score was close at the end of the first half. The Cardinal and Blue five were out after the scalps of the Blue and White team, as the Cadets had received a sound thrashing a few days previous by a score of 30 to 21.
Cadets Are Consistent
The Cadets played a steady, consistent game throughout the entire game. The team work for the most part was good. The ball once being in the possession of the center player, was almost sure to find its way to the opponents' goal. The best individual playing was done by Downing and Wilson. Of seventeen free throws from foul plays Wilson caged nine. Mason, his opponent, caged seven out of eighteen attempts.
The team work of the visitors was good, though the players failed o make connection with the goal. This may be in a certain measure accounted for by the fact that the visitors were not accustomed to the floor. The visitors were also lacking in confidence. The best individual playing was done by Seelbach and Morris.
A number of wild throws were made by members of both teams. Foul were committed frequently by both teams. One point was awarded to Central opponent's tackling player while attempting to throw goal.
