Hal Bradley Dies
GLEN FALLS, N.Y. - Former Duke basketball coach Harold "Hal" Bradley, who coached All-American Dick Groat, has died following a long illness. He was 73.
Bradley, who died Wednesday, coached Duke from 1951-59 and compiled a 167-78 record. He led the Blue Devils to two second-place finishes in the Atlantic Coast Conference and two second-place finishes in the Southern Conference in 1952 and 1953.
After leaving Duke, Bradley became head basketball coach at Texas in 1959, where he compiled a 125-73 record in eight seasons and won three Southwest Conference titles.
Bradley was also a two-time coach of the year in both the ACC and Southwest Conference.
Funeral services are scheduled for today.
