Obituary - John Hudson Hardwick II, Lexington Herald-Leader (May 25, 2009)
John Hudson Hardwick II, 73, husband of Wickliffe Bogard Hardwick, died suddenly on Fri, May 22, 2009 at Central Baptist Hospital. He spent many years as a builder and developer in Lexington and had recently been a realtor with Turf Town Properties.
A native and lifelong resident of Lexington, he was born Oct. 22, 1935, the son of the late Theodore Hudson and June Bush Hunter Hardwick. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky where he received his B.S. in Civil Engineering and played basketball for Adolph Rupp from 1955-1957.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Keeneland Club, life-long member of Idle Hour Country Club, a UK Fellow, past Board Member of the Homebuilder's Assoc, Past President and Board Member of Lexington Hearing and Speech Center, and an avid golfer.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons: John Hudson (Cindy) Harwick III, Stanford, KY; Theodore Hudson (Katie) Harwick II; Weathers Board Harwick, both of Lexington; three granddaughters, Hannah Clare and Lilly Harwick. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Hardwick Rouse.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wed. at First Presbyterian Church with burial following in the Winchester Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Duker Bogard, Frederick Gibbs, Ted Kessinger, Samuel Kinkead, Marc McLean, Pope McLean Jr., Robert Rouse and William Rouse. Honorary pallbearers will be John Bicknell, Phillip Boyd, Robert M.
