HACKNEY
HIGH POINT - Bunn W. Hackney, Jr., 95, died Wednesday, March 17, 1999 at the Maryfield Nursing Home.
He was born December 1, 1903, in Durham, a son of Bunn W. and Mattie M. hackney, Sr. He graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1927. He served as Boy Scout Executive for the Uwharrie Council until his retirement 1968. He was also active in the Southeastern Official's Association, serving as Head Linesman and later as Supervisor of Officials. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. He was married to Bronna Watson Hackney, who died in 1991.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) H. Hicks of Jamestown, on Mrs. Patricia Ellington of High Point, a brother, Elmore H. Hackney of Durham; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 20, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church by Dr. Garland Young and Dr. C.M. Worthy. The family will receive friends following the service in the Asbury Room and Friday evening at the home of Dorothy and Robert Hicks, 203 Potter Dr., Jamestown.
