Boston Game:
7th ranked Kentucky defeated Boston University by 90-49 as the Terriers scored a season low. The Wildcats scored 30 points off 26 BU turnovers. Boston had more combined turnovers and fouls (51 total) than they had points.
Mark Pope opened the game with a 3 for the Cats, and the lead ultimately reached 13-0 before Owojobi hit on a 3 pointer, 4 minutes into the start of the game, for the Terriers. BU couldn't handle the UK press and was forced into numerous turnovers. After Epps hit a 3, UK led 18-3, which grew to 25-5 after a layup by Epps, a 3 by Sheppard, and Prickett FTs. The officials must've begun to feel sorry for Boston, because on one play where BU missed everything on a shot and the ball trickled out of bounds, the ball was given to Boston U even though no Wildcat came near the ball.
The Cats went up 29-8 after a basket and some FTs by McCarty, and UK forced a 10 second call in backcourt (for BU's 10th turnover). Later Mark Pope was blocked twice during one possession (in the lane), but the ball was kicked out to Epps who drilled a 3. Even on the occasions where Boston beat the Kentucky press, BU missed easy layups. After a tipin shot by Pope and an Epps basket, the Cats led 34-10. The score was 46-15 after a beautiful behind the back crossover move by Sheppard which allowed him a layup, a pair of Harrison 3s, and a Rhodes 18 footer. BU closed to within 50-21 at the half on shots by Owojobi, Byrd, and Bell.
Play started sloppily in the second half, with UK missing several scoring chances (including a 3 on 2 drive) - Kentucky missed its 1st 4 shots of the half. But Pope finally managed a pair of FTs, whereupon BU closed to within 58-31 on shots by Ehretsman, Byrd, and Wallace. UK went out on top 70-35 on a nice Prickett lob to Rhodes, a pair of Riddick FTs (!), a Rhodes pass to Walker for a basket, a Rhodes 14 footer, a McCarty assist to Riddick, and a glorious Walker open court steal, drive, and dunk. The lead expanded to 40 at 77-37 when McCarty dunked, Delk hit a 3, and Rhodes hit 2 FTs. At one point, Rhodes and Bell tangled and exchanged some words, but both were sent to the bench to cool off (and Rhodes slapped hands with Bell before departing).
Rhodes later gave UK its biggest lead of the night at 81-39, but BU closed to within 81-43 on an Owojobi basket and Byrd layup. UK cruised to a final score of 90-49 on the strength of FTs by Sheppard, FTs by Padgett, a Padgett 3, and a Prickett FT.
