Former Marshall Gird Coach Dies
Huntington, WV - Thomas E. (Tom) Dandelet, professor of physical education and former head football coach at Marshall College, died today of a heart attack at his home.
Dandelet, 52, was a native of Faribault, Minn. He became assistant coach in football and basketball at Marshall in 1930.
In 1931 he became head football coach succeeding John F. Malbetsch.
Dandelet began his college athletic career at St. Thomas college in St. Paul in 1915. he was chosen all-star college fullback for three years before transferring to Valparaiso University. At Valparaiso, in 1921, he was named to the All-Indiana college football and basketball teams.
The same year he won honorary mention on Walter Camp's All-America football team.
He moved to Ceredo-Kenova in 1924 as head coach and in five years his football teams lost only seven games. He withdrew from coaching in 1929 to obtain an A.B. degree from Marshall.
