Obituary - Former UK Basketball Player Dies, Lexington Herald-Leader
Milward, who was a resident of Olive Branch, Miss., was a retired Army major and a former employee of the General Adjustment Bureau of Memphis, where he worked for 35 years. He retired in 1973 because of failing health.
Milward, who left Lexington in 1937, played basketball at UK from 1928 to 1930 under the late John Mauer, who preceded Adolph Rupp as head coach. He also played ball at the old Lexington Senior High School and earned several awards while on that team. He later was inducted into the Kentucky Lions' High School Basketball Hall of Fame.
He was the first cousin of the late Emmitt Milward of Lexington. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Gosser Milward; twin sons, Stanley Milward Jr. and William Kenney Milward; a daughter, Betsy Ruth Milward; and four grandchildren.
He was buried Wednesday in Blocker Cemetery in Olive Branch, Miss.
