Obituary - Full Military Rites Held for Dr. (Col.) C.D. Blair, Flemingsburg Gazette (May 11, 1994)
Dr. Blair was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and earned a varsity letter in basketball under Coach Adolph Rupp. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and in March of 1941 entered the U.S. Army at Camp Lee, Va. During World War II he served in England, France and Germary as commander of the 536th Quartermaster group. Retiring from active duty in 1945, he subsequently went into the U.S. Army Reserves and attained the rank of colonel.
A 1950 graduate of the University of Louisville College of Dentistry, Dr. Blair conducted his practice in dentistry in Flemingsburg for 27 years. He was instrumental in bringing the Randall Textron Manufacturing Company and the U.S. Shoe Corporation to Flemingsburg and served as chairman of the Fleming County Board of Education for 22 years.
Dr. Blair was born in Fleming County on August 21, 1908 and was the son of the late Harry C. and Ida Harvin Blair.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jean Arnold Blair; a daughter, Mrs. Roy (Bonnie) Giehles of Tallahasshee, Fla.; two sons, Thomas C. Blair of Boca Raton, Fla., and Robert A. Blair of Cincinnati, and six grandchildren.
Services were 1 p.m. Monday, May 9, at the Boone-Nickell funeral Home. Burial was in the Fleming County Cemetery with full military rites.
