Yacht Enthusiast Dead at 89; Was Club Organizer
ESSEX - Wright McCallip, 89, of 2 Little Point, one of the organizers of the Essex Open Class Association and its successor, the Pettipaugh Yacht Club, died at the Essex Convalscent Hospital Sunday after a short illness.
He was born in Columbus, Ohio, and had lived in Essex the last 40 years.
He leaves two daughters, Miss Elizabeth McCallip and Mrs. George Lancraft Jr., both of Essex; and two grandchildren.
The funeral is today at 2 p.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church, Essex, with the Rev. Kenneth Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Sag Harbor, N.Y. at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to the junior sailing program, Pettipaug Yacht Club, Essex. There are no calling hours. Robinson and Wright Funeral Home is making arrangements.
