Basketball Official Cathey Dies at 42
Preston Cathey, a well-known basketball official and assistant principal at Hillsboro High School, died early yesterday morning at St. Thomas Hospital from what was believed to be a lung disorder.
Cathey, 42, had officiated a basketball game the previous night.
He was an official in a number of conferences, including the Southeastern, Ohio Valley, Gulf South, NAIA and Trans-America.
Services are scheduled at 11 a.m. tomorrow. High's Funeral Home in McMinnville, Tenn., is handling the arrangements.
