GERNAND
WEST COLUMBIA - C.J. (Buddy) Gernand, 72, died Friday May 29, 1987 in a Houston hopsital.
He was a native of Galveston, Texas and had lived in Beaumont most of his life before moving to West Columbia, Texas. He was a retired Vice-President of Gulf Supply Company. He was a 1938 graduate of Baylor University and was the only man since 1938 to letter in five sports. He was also All-Southwest Conference in baseball, football and basketball. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran in WWII.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Letha Gernand of West Columbia, Texas; two sons, James Rudy Gernand of Spring, Texas, and Roy W. Gernand of Lake Jackson, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Beaumont, Texas with Dr. Roland Scale, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Beaumont.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
