DEFEAT COLISEUMS 29 TO 28
Fast Basket Ball Game at State College Taken from Louisville Team by Local Boys
In a whirlwind finish, the State College Cadets Saturday night defeated the Louisville Coliseum Club at basketball. The game was generally conceded to be the best exhibition of basketball skill that has been seen here this season. The final score was 29 to 28.
At the opening of the contest, the Cadets by a series of brilliant plays by Downing, took the lead. The plucky Coliseum team soon settled down to work, and by lightning-like quickness succeeded in raising their score to 18 at the end of the first half while the Cadets had scored only twelve. In the early part of the second half, the Cadets began adding to their score until it stood 16 to 18 for Coliseum. The Louisville boys then made a desperate effort and by the time State had reached 18, Coliseum had scored 28. This rally by the Louisville boys seemed to be only a spurt, however, for the superior endurance of the Cadets then began to show. They kept at their constant pace until they succeeded in raising their score to 29 without allowing Coliseum to budge from their 28 mark.
In a few moments time was called and the crowd broke forth in cheers for both the victors and the vanquished. The game was noticeably free from foul plays and all the contestants seemed to realize that they were in for a struggle for existence, in which the fittest were to survive.
For Coliseum, Lehmann, center and Arthur, right guard, played somewhat the best game. For State, it would be hard to say who won first honors. Their team work was almost perfect but they found some difficulty in locating the basket. The work of Wilson at right guard was probably the most noticeable part of State's work.

STATE DEFEATS THE COLISEUM TEAM
Louisville Aggregation Is Put Down In Close Snappy Game
With a whirlwind finish the basket ball team from Kentucky State College defeated the Coliseum team of Louisville in the State College gymnasium last night by a score of 29 to 28. The contest was close and exciting at all stages. At the end of the first half the score stood 18 to 12 in favor of the visitors.
Team work was the principal feature of the game, both fives showing up in splendid form. For the most part the passes were short and quick, hitting the mark. At most times when either side gained possession of the ball it moved p and down the field of play like clock work. Arthur, Lehmann and Fox were a splendid machine, and Fox, Post and Downing for the Cadets were even a better aggregation. As regards foul plays, twelve are credited to the Coliseum and nine to the Cadets.
Barbee's goal throwing probably saved the Cadet team from defeat. Of six try at goals from foul plays, Barbee caged three. Wilson was weak at free throws, failing to score a point out of five throws, . Lehmann, for the visitors, caged five balls from twelve free throws.
B. Fox put up the best individual playing for the Coliseum team. The playing of the Cadets on the whole was so nearly uniform that it would be difficult to individualize. When Wilson's free throws were not up to his usual standard as a guard, he was ever on the alert and in the game at all times.
The winning of the game last night by the Cadets does not affect the State Inter-Collegiate championship question. The Coliseum team was defeated by the team from Central University Friday night be a score of 1 to 20. As the Cadets have defeated the Crimson five the probabilities are that the race for championship honors will be between Central and State.
The game was refereed by Forest Moss, of Louisville, who decisions were fair and impartial, rendering making changes for a wrangle beyond question.
