Harry C. Warren, Former Newsman, Dies in Elkhart
ELKHART - Harry C. (Pi) Warren, 76, of River Forest, Ill., a retired sports writer for the Chicago Tribune and former city editor of the old South Bend News-Times, died following a heart attack at 10 a.m. Sunday while visiting friends here. He died at the C.W. Ritter residence at 3425 Travis Court.
Warren retired in 1965 after 30 years with theTribune. At the time of his death he was editor of the Southtown Economist.
He was born Sept. 1, 1899 in Muncie. He married Faye R. Churchill April 21, 1959 in Atlanta, Ga. She survives with a daughter, Mrs. Jack Stouffer of LaGrange, Ga.; a stepson, Thomas Churchill of Copan, Okla.; four grandchildren, and a brother, Charles R. Warren of Muncie.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, with Rev. John W. Thomas, pastor of St. John's Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Elkhart County Cancer Society. He was a member of the Chicago Press Club.
