Belknap Ex-Executive, Eugene Converse, Dies
Eugene A. Converse, retired secretary-controller of Belknap Hardware & Manufacturing Company, and a consultant for Citizens Fidelity Bank & Trust Company, died at 1:10 p.m. yesterday at his home, 172 Arrowhead Road.
Converse, 70, had been a director of Belknap's from 1931 to 1955, and secretary-controller from 1934 to 1954.
He was a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Manufacturers from 1945 to 1948, and was chairman of the N.A.M.'s tax-administration committee.
Was Louisville Native
A native of Louisville, he was an assistant secretary of Louisville Trust Company from 1912 to 1918; president of Louisville Amateur Athletic Federation from 1920 to 1926; chairman of the advisory committee of the Kentucky Unemployment Commission from 1938 to 1948; former president of associated Industries of Kentucky; former director of the Y.M.C.A.; member of Harry Kendall Masonic Lodge; member of the Louisville Country and Filson clubs, and a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mary Burton Converse, and a brother, Julian L. Converse, Houston. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Herbert Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Avenue. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery.
