Otis L. Carter
Otis L. "Blackie" Carter, of 13 Woodvale Avenue, husband of Mrs. Kathryn Hunsinger Carter, died Friday.
A native of Langley, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carter, he received his education in the Greenwood Schools and Furman University, won four letters and was captain of the 1924 football team while attending Furman University, played professional baseball with the New York Giants, was a scout for the Brooklyn Dodgers, refereed textile industrial league basketball games, worked for Dodenhoff Co. and at he time of his death was with Slip Not Belting Co., Kingsport, Tenn. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving also are three daughters, Mrs. Betty Jane Carter Gault of Clinton, Mrs. Kitty Sue Carter Patton of Dallas, Tex., and Mrs. Florence Carter Mosson of Red Bank, N.J.; a sister, Mrs. Essie Carter Satcher of Gloverville; a brother, Everette H. Carter of Aiken; four grandchildren.
Services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
