W.W. Belew Jr.
BRISTOL - W.W. "Bill" Belew Jr., 86, 515 Bluff City Highway, died Wednesday, May 28, 1997, at his residence.
He was a Johnson City native and had lived in Bristol since the mid-1940s
Mr. Belew was an Air Force veteran, having served from 1942-46 and attaining the rank of tech sergeant and athletic/physical training chief.
He was a 1929 graduate of Science Hill High School, Johnson City, and a 1933 graduate of East Tennessee State University, Johnson City.
Mr. Belew founded Belew Sound and Visual Inc. in 1946.
He was a Scout master for Troop No. 8.
Mr. Belew was a former member of the Bristol Recreation Board, and was active in many activities, including the AAU Little League and Kiwanis Club.
He was a member of State Street United Methodist church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher of the Baraca Class.
Survivors include one daughter, Norma Belew Upshur, Germantown; two sons, W.W. "Bill" Belew III, Denver, and Sam B. Belew, Bristol; three brothers, Norman Belew, Bristol, Henry Belew, Clayton Ga., and John Belew, Santa Rosa, Calif.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
