Obituary - NABC Website (April 30, 2003)
JOLIET, Ill. (AP) - Former Morehead State coach Dick Fick, a part-time assistant at the University of St. Francis the last two seasons, was found dead Monday morning in his apartment, police said. He was 50.
Fick had some unspecified medical problems and did not appear to be the victim of foul play, said Joliet Police spokesman Lt. Gordon Corp.
Police went to Fick's apartment in Joliet after a friend found his body and telephoned for help, Corp said.
St. Francis athletic director Dave Laketa said Fick had been a part-time assistant at the school for the last two seasons.
Before going to St. Francis, Fick was the head coach at Morehead State for six years. He was honored as the Ohio Valley Conference coach of the year in 1995. He left Morehead State in 1997.
Fick also was an assistant coach at Valparaiso for seven seasons and at Creighton for six.
Fick was divorced and is survived by two children, a son and a daughter. Funeral services will be Friday, Laketa said.
