Obituary - John A. Witherspoon, Lexington Leader (May 18, 1965)
LAWRENCEBURG - John Allen Witherspoon, 62, a native of Anderson County, died at 9:55 p.m. Sunday of a heart attack at his home in the Puritan Apartments, Louisville. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Witherspoon and was director of sales for the refrigerated food division of the Pillsbury Co.
He left here in 1930 to accept a position with Ballard Mills, Louisville. When Ballard Mills was sold to Pillsbury Co., he continued in that firm, serving a total of 35 years in both companies.
Before leaving Lawrenceburg he was associated with the Anderson National Bank. He was a member of the Pendennis Club, Louisville, and the First Christian Church, Louisville.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Jane Williams Witherspoon; a daugther, Mrs. C.E. Tuell, Lexington; a sister, Anderson County Clerk Mrs. William M. Routt, Lawrenceburg, and two grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Pearson Funeral Home, Louisville. Burial will be in the Frankfort Cemetery about 1 p.m. Wednesday.
