Obituary - Gilbert K. Smith Services Tomorrow, St. Louis Post-Dispatch (November 19, 1971)
Mr. Smith died yesterday of cancer at Bernard West Nursing Home, 4335 West Pine Boulevard. He was 70 years old. He lived at 751 Yale Avenue, University City. Mr. Smith was with Standards for about 15 years. Surviving are his wife, Ruth; sons G. Alexander Smith, financial department writer for the Globe-Democrat; Gordon M. Smith, York, Pa., and Hallan J. Smith, Boston; sisters, Mrs. Rufus Lisle and Mrs. Hill Shine, both of Lexington, Ky., and Lady Elizabeth Rothstein of Oxford, England, and two children.
Obituary - Gilbert Smith Dies at 70 in St. Louis, Lexington Herald (November 19, 1971)
Gilbert King Smith, 70, University City, Mo., an executive for Standard Engineering Co. of Chicago, died of cancer Thursday in St. Louis.
He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Judson Smith and was born in Acidalia, N.Y. He spent most of his early life in Lexington, and was a graduate of the University of Kentucky. He was a member of the UK football and basketball squads, including the 1921 All-Star basketball squad.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ruth Rogers Smith; three sisters, Mrs. Rufus Lisle and Mrs. Hill Shrine, both of Lexington, and Lady Elizabeth Rothenstein of Oxford, England, and three sons, Gordon M. Smith of York, Pa.; Hallam J. Smith, Boston, and G. Alexander Smith, St. Louis.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Louis.
